USNMNH Camarasaurus (DNM 24)

This only partly prepared block tells the same story of a neck preserved in a state of extreme dorsiflexion, such that the postzygapophysees are out of articulation with their associated prezygapophyses. The upward neck curvature can be attributed to a "death pose" as in CM 11338 and DNM 28. Again, the curvature is not intrinsic to the neck (that is to say, not present in the undeflected state). Again giraffe-like upturn. In fact, this specimen shows very little ability to curve dorsally without running into the stops (literally).
