AMNH 5761/X-a-5-605 (C. supremus)

(photographs courtesy Carl Mehling and Rick Edwards, AMNH)

This extraordinary specimen suffered fusion between two vertebrae in the critical cervicodorsal transition. While not precisely collinear, the two centra lie approximately flat on the shelf. These is a slight right lateral flexion as well, apparent in the dorsal view. No giraffe-like bend is apparent.
