Monte Cristo is an abandoned mining town in the northern Cascade Mountains. A few cabins survive, surrounded by rusted wagon parts and a tangle of abandonded trails. The guidebook says that the surrounding mountains are full of old mining claims. Josh joined me on this easy hike into the heart of the Cascades.
