CS 410/510: Advanced Topics in Networking


Course Description

Recent evolution in the Internet is fueled by different technologies, applications, and designs like Software-Defined Networking, Datacenters, Cloud Computing, Mobile Computing, Internet of Things, etc. At the same time, the scope of the threats and the cyberattacks in the Internet are growing in an unprecedented scale. CIS 410/510 is a graduate- and senior-level introduction to advanced topics in networking, with a focus on emerging areas, technologies and paradigms in the Internet. This course has a substantial project component. Specific course goals are: Prerequisites: Background in networking (CIS 432) or consent of instructor is required to enroll in this course.

Course Material: We will use a number of relevant research papers from different areas of networking including topology, tools, attacks, and emerging trends. All the papers will be listed on class website. If you need additional background, the following books are recommended:
