What is this?

This is documentation of a personal century ride for the UMCA Year-Rounder Challenge. The basic idea is to make at least one 100-mile ride in each month of 2007. It gets me out when it might otherwise be too easy to say “too bad the weather wasn't better this month.”

May 13, 2007

Route Overview

Chambers to Lorane Highway, south on Lorane Highway to Territorial Road, through Lorane to Curtin. Highway 99 to Drain, then Yoncalla. John Long Highway to Rice Hill, then Goodrich Highway to Metz Hill. Metz Hill Road to Green Valley Road to Rockridge Bridge Road, then Sterns Road to Oakland. Highway 99 South through Oakland and Sutherlin to Wilbur, then Wilbur Road ("Wilbur Cutoff") to Del Rio Road, to Garden Valley Road west of Roseburg. Garden Valley Road east to Melrose Road, then Melrose Road south to the end, onto Colonial Road, west to Lookingglass. South on Coos Bay Wagon Road to Reston, then down (roughly southwest) to Tenmile.

GPS Goof

The GPS unit (strapped to my back, because the Garmin mount doesn't fit the handlebar on my road bike) was off between Yoncalla and Wilbur. The total mileage is therefore taken from bicycle computer, although it is also consistent with previous ride of the same route. Since the missing segment is no longer than distance between store receipts when documenting rides in that manner, I believe it should be acceptable.
