Kathleen Freeman Hennessy received a B.S. degree in Mathematics with Honors from Bucknell University in 1982 and her Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1993 from the University of Oregon. Her research investigated computational models of argumentation. She has taught a variety of undergraduate CIS classes in the Computer Science Department at UO, including upper and lower division and introductory courses, as well as a teaching effectiveness seminar for graduate students. Prior to coming to Oregon, she worked in the computer industry as a programmer/analyst at Shared Medical Systems (now Siemens) in Malvern, PA. Current interests include teaching computing concepts, including computer programming and computational thinking, to general audiences.
