    About the bearing surface
    I got a sheet of 10 mil thermaforming plastic scrap,
    cut it into a conic section with a scribing compass I made 
    but there just was not time to form & fit it so I just set it there
    poked some holes, looped some twine around 
    and it worked for the duration.
